MINI GAMES NIGHT

Posted on by Natalie Vakulin

This October, a group of our dedicated young aikidoka (ages 16+) will be traveling alongside Steve Sensei and senior black belts to Squamish, BC, to participate in the Canadian Aikido Federation (CAF) Fall Seminar. This is an incredible opportunity for our eligible youth to train with Osawa Sensei (our Technical Director from headquarters dojo in Tokyo), represent our dojo in a special youth demonstration, and practice alongside young practitioners from all across British Columbia.

To help lower travel, flight, and seminar costs for our young team, we are hosting a MINI GAMES NIGHT at BigRock Aikikai, taking place on Friday, Oct 9th!

What is a Mini Games Night?

  • Warm up with a variety of mini dojo games: From Ping Pong to Corn Hole, we'll start off the night with some excellent game time!

  • Pizza dinner: Enjoy a delicious meal with the rest of the dojo community. Lots of time to reconnect with old and new friends!

  • An All-Participant Game Finale: Finish off the evening with one huge game! If you love our dojo camp games, you'll definitely enjoy this final mini game night activity. All participants will leave with bright smiles and sweaty faces :)

Why Bring Your Kids?

  • For All Students (Ages 3 to 17): This coming mini games night will be a super fun social evening for all our junior students to hang out, play a variety of games, and enjoy time with their dojo friends outside of regular training.

  • Supporting Our Dojo Family: Every dollar raised will go directly to offsetting expenses for the young students traveling to represent BigRock Aikikai in Squamish. By sending your child to mini games night, you are directly helping make this milestone trip possible for them. These young students are the backbone of our junior instructor program - they are the young teachers guiding your children in aikido training - sending them to the CAF fall seminar with not only enrich their technical knowledge of aikido in a way no other type of event can but it will also revitalize the energy with which they approach dojo life.

Calling All Junior Instructors (Ages 15+)!

If you are a junior instructor aged 15 or older, we strongly encourage you to come out and help run mini games night —even if you aren't planning to go to the Squamish seminar yourself.

Volunteering your time to help run these nights is a powerful way to show leadership, mentor our younger students, and extend generosity to your fellow dojo family members. Aikido is about community and supporting one another on and off the mat, and your presence will mean a lot to our traveling students and mini games participants participants alike.

Thank you all for being such an incredible, supportive community. Let’s make this mini games night a massive success for our kids!

If you have any questions or want to jump in to help volunteer, please reach out directly at admin@bigrock-aikikai.com or chat with one of the senior teachers before or after class.
